Brother Galasso, an Army Veteran who earned the Purple Heart in World War II, joined the Woodbridge Police Department on October 1, 1955. As a Patrolman he worked in various capacities including traffic duty, foot patrol, gave safety talks in schools, was part of the radar unit, and worked in the radio room/front desk. In 1966 he received the rank of Detective and was assigned to the Juvenile Aid Bureau. He retired on July 31, 1981 after 26 years with the Department. In addition to P.B.A. Local #38, Phil was a member of the New Jersey State Juvenile Officers Association, the Middlesex County Juvenile Aid Officers Association and the Woodbridge Action for Youth Advisory Board. Upon retirement Phil was a member of the Middlesex County Retired Police and Fire Association.
