Woodbridge Township, located in central New Jersey, covers 27 square miles with a population exceeding 100,000. Woodbridge PBA Local 38 has approximately 189 members. Due to a 1996 PERC decision encouraged by the Township Administration, the bargaining unit was split. Three quarters of our members are now Regular Members, ( patrolman and detectives ), one quarter are Fraternal Members belonging to the S.O.A. which consist of sergeants and above.

In March of 1999 the Woodbridge Police Department was granted C.A.L.E.A. certification. Thousands of pages of new policies and regulations disseminated by the Department during the certification process added tremendously to the normal stresses and strains of the job on our members. The Executive Board of P.B.A. Local #38 continues to attempt to work with the Administration of the Department to make the Accreditation viable and make our Department one of the best in the nation.

PBA #38 is a member of the New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association, and in addition to helping its members in the areas of negotiations and in times of need, sponsors a number of charity and community events each year, supports scholarship funds, and sponsors numerous youth teams in sporting functions within the community. In September 1997 year we started a Youth Hockey League.
